Since its establishment in 2001, Arasan Eye Bank has greatly increased the collection of transplantable donor corneas and enhanced eye bank performance standards. It has contributed significantly to the effective networking and proliferation of eye banks through promotion of community eye banking programs.
SSF is a non-profit organization which conducts all community and training programs. It was founded in 1999 as a non-profit organization and is registered under India Trust Act as a 12A foundation under the Income Tax Act.
> Recovery, evaluation and preservation of donor tissues.
> Distribution of tissues for corneal transplantation.
> Research in cornea preservation and decontamination techniques.
> Public awareness programs.
> The first step is, the camp date + place would be finalized.
> Approval from the DBCS office (District Blindness Control Society) would be obtained.
> The venue permission from the concern authority would be obtained.
> 3 days prior to the camp, the patients would be informed about the free eye camp, and the venue through various public communication modes.
> On the camp day, the patients would be screened, and the one’s for whom surgery is required, they would be shifted to the hospital.
> Food and accommodation would be provided for 3 days.
> Once the surgery is done, patients would be dropped at the camp site.
> There would be a follow up, after a week.
Any individual or voluntary social service organizations like Lions club, rotary club, educational institutions, trusts, banks, religious groups, industries, political partners, recreation clubs, village presidents, etc.., can take part in organizing and funding free eye camps.
> Assembling patient at camp site.
> Arrange the necessary, furniture, electricity, water needs for the people.
> Public announcements through various modes like hand bills, wall posters, auto & mike announcement , newspaper advertisements, flex banners.
> Provide food & medicines for the patients.
