Save Sight Foundation is the charitable wing of Arasan Eye Hospital founded by Dr. VPS . It was registered in the year 2000 as a public charitable trust under section 12A. Under this all community outreach activity of Arasan Eye Hospital are undertaken. The activities involved are free eye camps, Diabetic Retinopathy screening camps, and school screening camps and work place camps..
So far we have done more than 6000 free eye camps. We have screened more than 500000 patients and have done more than 100000 free surgeries
Under SSF Arasan Eye Bank was started in the year 2001. It is registered with Eye Bank Association of India and HOTA certified.
Through Arasan Eye Bank more than 15000 Eyes have been collected and more than 900 Keratoplasties were done.
On invitation from the Chattisgarh Government the trust conducted Mega eye camps in the tribal belt of Dhandewada District in 2009. Dandewada is the defacto Naxal capital of India.
Save Sight Foundation under Arasan has spread its wings abroad also. Starting in the year 2005 for four consecutive years Mega eye camps were conducted in Ghana, West Africa along with Rotary International. Doctors from Mali and Zimbabwe were trained at Arasan.
Training program in Cataract surgery is a very popular initiative of SSF. More than 900 Doctors have benefitted from this program. Out of this 220 Doctors from 64 Countries have visited Arasan for this program.
Community outreach programs are organized through the Save Sight Foundation (SSF), a unit of Arasan Eye Hospital.
SSF is a non-profit organization which conducts all community and training programs. It was founded in 1999 as a non-profit organization and is registered under India Trust Act as a 12A foundation under the Income Tax Act.
SSF conducts community outreach campaigns in rural areas where the need is high. So far about more than 6,000 eye camps have been organized at which close to more than 6,000 needy people regained their vision through cataract surgeries.
These camps also serve to educate the local community on eye care. Some of the camps are conducted in partnership with individual or a voluntary social service organization such as Lions, Rotary, religious groups, industries, trusts, banks, hospitals, community-based NGOs, recreation and welfare clubs, and village presidents. Those interested in community welfare may sponsor an eye camp and partner with us.
SSF is authorized by the District Blindness Control Society (DBCS) to conduct eye screening camps in five districts of Tamil Nadu Viz., Erode, Tirupur, Salem, Namakkal, Karur and Dindigul.
Since its inception in 1999, SSF has conducted more than 6,000 eye screening camps have been held. Through the eye camps, more than 5 Lakh patients have been screened and more than 1lakh sight-restoring cataract surgeries have been performed.
A well-equipped clinical team made up of ophthalmologists and paramedicals visit each camp to screen patients in rural areas. SSF works closely with local support groups, obtaining the required permissions and the village panchayat chiefs to organize the camps in school buildings or community halls.

Any individual or voluntary social service organizations like Lions club, rotary club, educational institutions, trusts, banks, religious groups, industries, political partners, recreation clubs, village presidents, etc.., can take part in organizing and funding free eye camps.
